Argentine Ambassador Calls on Cultural Affairs Minister
Football and Culture Further Solidify Bangladesh-Argentina Ties<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to Bangladesh, Marcelo Carlos Cesa, paid a call on the Minister for Cultural Affairs, Nitai Roy Chowdhury, at the latter\u2019s office at Bangladesh Secretariat, Dhaka today. State Minister for Cultural Affairs, Ali Newaz Mahmood Khyom was present during the meeting.
In the meeting, the Minister stated that the people of Bangladesh will forever remember with gratitude Argentina\u2019s early support during the Liberation War in 1971 and its recognition of our independence in 1972. The government is fully committed to enhancing bilateral cooperation based on mutual equality, respect, and the core principle of present government \u2018Bangladesh First\u2019.
The Minister also said, as there is no formal cultural framework currently exists, we urge the Argentine side to swiftly finalize the \u2018Agreement of Cultural Cooperation\u2019 proposed by Bangladesh. This instrument will elegantly blend our Baul traditions with Argentina\u2019s Tango and Chamam\u00e9. We must expand our horizons through institutional exchanges in film, media, and press.
During the meeting, the historic cultural connection between the two nations was highlighted, recalling the legendary bond between Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore and Argentine writer Victoria Ocampo. In this context, the Argentine Ambassador stated, Argentine are mostly familiar with Rabindranath Tagore, but we are eager to discover more writers from Bangladesh. He requested initiatives to translate the works of more Bangladeshi authors into Spanish and urged Bangladesh’s robust participation in the upcoming \u2018Buenos Aires International Book Fair\u2019. The Ambassador also highly praised the spiritual Lalon songs of Bangladesh and suggested translating Lalon Geeti into Spanish to present them to the global audience.
To foster deeper people-to-people connections, the Ambassador apprised that four prominent Argentine social media influencers and vloggers will visit Bangladesh during the ongoing FIFA World Cup. This vlogging team will create extensive content showcasing the profound passion of Bangladeshi fans for Argentine football, which will be broadcasted widely in Argentina, paving the way for advanced sports and cultural soliderity.
To institutionalize permanent bilateral friendship, formal proposals were placed on behalf of Bangladesh to name a road after Bangladesh in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires. Furthermore, recognizing the climate compatibility between the two nations, a proposal was also extended on behalf of Bangladesh to relocate and plant native Bangladeshi flora and trees in Argentina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To make this cultural exchange more vibrant, State Minister Khyom proposed organizing a joint \u2018Cultural Evening\u2019 featuring leading performing artists from both Bangladesh and Argentina.
Ambassador Marcelo Carlos Cesa highly praised the public fervor and unmatched warmth of Bangladeshi football fans. Welcoming the progressive proposals made on behalf of Bangladesh, he expressed strong optimism about advancing cultural, economic, and agro-technological collaborations, reassuring commitment to processing the proposed cultural agreement swiftly.
The Argentine delegation, including Deputy Head of Mission Patricio Urue\u00f1a Palacio, along with Kazi Anarkoly, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka and senior officials of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs also attended the meeting .
