The International Business Forum of Bangladesh (IBFB) expresses concern over the ongoing energy crisis and its impact on the economy, industry, investment climate, and citizens. Load-shedding, gas shortages, and rising costs are weakening business confidence and competitiveness.
IBFB welcomes the Government\u2019s initiative to develop a comprehensive energy policy with private sector participation. This is a timely step toward investment, innovation, and a stronger public-private partnership framework.
IBFB’s Key Recommendations
Immediate Priorities
\u25cfEnsure uninterrupted power and gas for export industries, EPZs, economic zones, and SMEs.
\u25cfPublish clear load-shedding schedules.
\u25cfProvide temporary support for energy-dependent SMEs.
Medium- and Long-Term Measures
\u25cfExpand gas exploration and renewable energy.
\u25cfUpgrade the national grid with smart technologies and storage.
\u25cfDiversify LNG sources and strengthen regional cooperation.
\u25cfPromote energy efficiency and reduce system losses.
\u25cfIncrease private sector participation in solar, captive power, and infrastructure.
\u25cfFinalize a National Energy Master Plan with clear targets and monitoring.
IBFB believes coordinated action by the Government, private sector, regulators, and partners can turn the energy crisis into an opportunity for sustainable growth. Strengthening energy security is vital for industry, jobs, investment, and long-term economic resilience.
