Dhaka : Prime Bank PLC organised a seminar at Central Women\u2019s University (CWU) to raise awareness among students on financial inclusion, financial literacy, responsible money management, career development and women\u2019s financial empowerment. The seminar, titled \u201cFinancial Inclusion: Engaging & Inspiring Youth in Banking,\u201d was held under the bank\u2019s PrimeAcademia initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Organised by the Central Women\u2019s University Business Club (CWUBC) at the initiative of Prime Bank, the event brought together students, faculty members and banking professionals. Discussions focused on building financial capability, making informed financial decisions, personal money management and preparing for future careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Delivering the opening remarks, Shaila Abedin, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Liability and Women Banking at Prime Bank, said women\u2019s financial inclusion goes beyond access to banking services; it is also linked to financial independence, confidence, decision-making capacity and leadership development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Drawing on her own professional experience, Shaila Abedin said social expectations and various workplace barriers often make women\u2019s career advancement more challenging. She emphasised perseverance, continuous learning, ethical conduct and the courage to take responsibility as important qualities for overcoming such challenges. She also encouraged students to develop financial knowledge alongside their academic and professional skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said awareness of income, savings and future planning can help women make financial decisions with greater confidence. Referring to women\u2019s growing contribution to the economy, she also introduced Prime Bank\u2019s specialised women-focused banking proposition, \u2018Neera\u2019. Emphasising ethical banking and responsible financial behaviour, she said trust, transparency and responsibility are the foundations of banking services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
M M Mahbub Hasan, Senior Vice President and Head of Financial Inclusion & School Banking at Prime Bank, delivered the keynote address. He discussed various practical aspects of personal money management, emphasising the importance of balancing income and expenditure, maintaining regular savings, making informed financial decisions and developing long-term financial discipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mahbub Hasan introduced his \u201cGrandfather Concept of Personal Money Management\u201d, explaining how income, expenditure, savings and future financial planning can be managed within an integrated framework throughout an individual\u2019s life. He also highlighted Prime Bank\u2019s 31-year journey and its various initiatives to respond to the evolving needs of its customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mahbub Hasan also highlighted a number of initiatives undertaken by Prime Bank to advance financial inclusion and make banking more accessible to all. Referring particularly to the bank\u2019s initiatives for persons with disabilities, he said Prime Bank has introduced Sign Language Video Call support to make banking services more accessible and inclusive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also highlighted initiatives such as Braille books and accessible banking materials for visually impaired customers. These initiatives, he said, reflect the bank\u2019s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of banking services reach underserved communities and persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The chief guest, Professor Dr Perween Hasan, Vice Chancellor of Central Women\u2019s University, appreciated the initiative and emphasised the importance of combining academic education with practical financial knowledge and career-related skills. Referring to CWU\u2019s efforts to advance women\u2019s education despite various challenges, she encouraged students to prepare themselves for the changing demands of the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Elias Ahmed, Registrar of Central Women\u2019s University, also spoke at the event. Senior officials from both organisations were present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme featured an interactive question-and-answer session and group discussions, providing students with an opportunity to engage directly with banking professionals on personal money management, career development and ethical banking practices. Outstanding participants were also recognised with prizes from Prime Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme was organised as part of Prime Bank\u2019s \u2018Empowering Youth\u2019 initiative, which aims to connect classroom learning with the professional world while preparing young people through financial inclusion, financial literacy, responsible money manage.
