New York, 14 July 2026: State Minister for Planning Zonayed Saki has called for increased grants, concessional financing, technology transfer and stronger international partnerships to accelerate implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Delivering Bangladesh’s national statement at the General Debate of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2026 at United Nations Headquarters, the State Minister highlighted the Government’s Recovery, Restoration and Reconstruction (3R) Strategy to restore economic stability and strengthen institutions following the February 2026 elections.He also outlined key national initiatives, including increased public investment in education and health, dredging 20,000 kilometres of rivers and canals, planting 250 million saplings, expanding renewable energy and green industries, developing a carbon market, strengthening domestic resource mobilization, introducing a universal life-cycle-based social protection programme and launching the Farmers Card to enhance rural livelihoods, food security and agricultural productivity.Reaffirming Bangladesh’s commitment to sustainable development, the State Minister said the Government is pursuing key reforms and investments to advance inclusive and sustainable development.
