Dhaka :The 46th meeting of the Board of Governors of the Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI) was held today at the conference room of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock in Dhaka. Mohammed Amin Ur Rashid, Minister for Fisheries and Livestock, and Chairman of the Board of Governors BFRI, presided over the meeting.Sultan Salauddin Tuku, State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock and Co-Chairman of the board, was present at the meeting. The meeting was also attended by Lutfor Rahman Kajol, MP (Cox’s Bazar-3), Md Anwarul Haque, MP (Netrokona-2), Rofiqul Islam Hilali, MP (Netrokona-3), and Md Mahbubul Hossain Khan, Member (Secretary) of the Agriculture, Water Resources, and Rural Institutions Division of the Planning Commission, Md. Delwar Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.During the meeting, the board reviewed the progress of the country’s fisheries research, the application of modern technologies, and ways to boost production. Detailed discussions were held regarding the sustainable management of aquatic resources and future action plans for the research sector.The board members emphasized making research activities more dynamic, action-oriented, and time-befitting to address emerging challenges. Concluding the meeting, the board members expressed their commitment to working collaboratively to strengthen research initiatives and drive development in the fisheries sector.Among others Dr Md. Khaled Kanak, Director General of the Department of Fisheries; Dr Md. Abdus Salam, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council; Ms Sahana, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Finance; Dr Anuradha Bhadra, Director General of BFRI; and Dr Md Latiful Islam, Director of BFRI, were also present at the meeting. -ত.বি.
