Sumana Chatterjee Mesmerises Dhaka Audience at a Joint Musical Evening Organised by Artist Club and DUCF

Dhaka : Renowned Kolkata-based vocalist Sumana Chatterjee, who is currently visiting Bangladesh to participate in the Nazrul Sangeet Festival 2026 organised by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, captivated music lovers in Dhaka with a memorable live performance at a special musical evening jointly organised by Artist Club and the Dhaka University Cultural Forum (DUCF) on Thursday evening.

She opened the concert with Kazi Nazrul Islam’s timeless classic “Bhoriya Poran Shunitechhi Gaan,” setting a soulful tone for the evening. Throughout the nearly two-and-a-half-hour programme, she performed more than 25 songs, featuring Nazrul Sangeet, evergreen Bengali classics popularised by legendary artistes Arati Mukherjee, Nirmala Mishra, Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar, as well as contemporary favourites.

The audience also warmly received her four original compositions—Keno Chhute Chai Bare Bare, Miss Korchi, Sayon, and Bola Mushkil—which added a distinctive personal touch to the evening.

Among the highlights of the programme were performances of Jeno Akashke Bolo Na Kokhono, Emon Ekti Jhinuk, Madhabi Modhupe Holo Mitali, Jete Dao Amay, Amar Ange Jole Rongmoshal, O Shyam Jokhon Tokhon, Prothome Shokal Sheshe Shondha, Brishti Brishti Brishti, Tomar Songe Dekha Na Hole, Lolita Go, E Shudhu Gaaner Din, O Tota Pakhire, Ami To Tomar Chirodiner, O Majhire O Majhi, Tomar Tane Sara Belar Gane, Dekhechho Ki Take, Moner Hodish, De Re Na Na and Ei Banglar Matite. Her melodious voice, expressive presentation and engaging stage presence earned repeated applause from the audience throughout the evening.

At the conclusion of the programme, Artist Club honoured Sumana Chatterjee with a floral tribute and a commemorative crest in recognition of her outstanding contribution to music.

Among those present were Artist Club President Sujit Mustafa, DUCF President Mahfuzur Rahman, Artist Club Adviser AHM Mostafizur Rahman, along with distinguished cultural personalities, musicians, media representatives and invited guests.
