Bangladesh’s cybersecurity capacity-building and digital resilience efforts received a major boost today with the official inauguration of Phoenix Summit 2026, one of the country’s largest cybersecurity convergence platforms. Organized under the theme “Closing the Cyber Gap in Emerging Economies,” the five-day summit formally opened on Thursday (26 June) at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC) in Dhaka.
The summit was inaugurated by Yasser Khan Chowdhury, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, who attended the event as the chief guest. The opening ceremony brought together government policymakers, industry leaders, academics, cybersecurity experts, technology researchers, students, and participants from Bangladesh and abroad.
The event is being organized by the TheTeamPhoenix Group (TTPG) and is powered by BRAC BANK PLC. Organizers expect more than 10,000 participants to engage in various activities throughout the five-day program.
The first day of the conference features a series of expert panel discussions focusing on cybersecurity, digital resilience, protection of critical national infrastructure, emerging technologies, and responses to evolving global cyber threats. Local and international experts are sharing insights, research findings, and policy recommendations during these sessions.
Speaking at the inauguration, State Minister Yasser Khan Chowdhury said, “When I first heard about the organizers’ vision for this summit, I was deeply impressed. It was the first time I had heard of such an initiative being planned in Bangladesh. After listening to their ideas, I realized that many people involved here possess strong expertise in information technology and are eager to contribute to Bangladesh’s development. I would like to thank the organizers and all partners who have stepped forward to support the country’s IT sector.”
He added, “The central focus of this summit is cybersecurity. After visiting various stalls, I found many remarkable initiatives and innovative ideas. I also shared some of my own thoughts. Our government has several plans related to IT and cybersecurity. Although we have only recently taken office, we are committed to gradually implementing these initiatives.”
Commenting on the significance of the summit, ASM Shamim Reza, Founder and Chief of Research of TheTeamPhoenix Group, said, “Cybersecurity has become an essential component of national security, economic stability, and digital sovereignty. By bringing together government institutions, industry stakeholders, academia, and cybersecurity professionals on a single platform, we aim to strengthen Bangladesh’s overall cyber capability.”
The summit’s activities began on 23 June with a series of technical workshops held at the Institution of Agriculturists Bangladesh. One of the key highlights was the “Practical Cyber Investigation” workshop organized with support from the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA). Additional workshops included “DevSecOps for Practitioners,” “Master Application Security: Vulnerability Management and Penetration Testing,” and “Ransomware Mechanics.” Participants received hands-on training in cyber investigation, DevSecOps, application security, vulnerability management, penetration testing, and ransomware defense.
