Audience Mesmerized by Ustad Azizul Islam’s Exquisite Flute Recital

Dhaka : A special monsoon evening featuring a solo flute recital by the renowned flautist of the subcontinent, Ustad Azizul Islam, was recently held (31 July 2026) under the auspices of the National Press Club.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Ayub Bhuiyan, General Secretary of the National Press Club. Subsequently, the Club’s President, poet Hasan Hafiz, formally inaugurated the event, paying tribute to Ustad Azizul Islam. The evening, hosted by Kazi Rownak Hossain, Convener of the National Press Club’s Cultural Sub-Committee, began at 7:00 p.m.

Among those present were Bakhtiar Rana, Treasurer of the National Press Club Managing Committee; committee members Kader Gani Chowdhury, Syed Abdal Ahmed, A.K.M. Mohsin, Shahnaz Begum Poly, and Mohammad Momin Hossain, along with club members, their families, distinguished guests and a large number of music enthusiasts.

The recital began with Raag Shyam Kalyan, followed by a brief Alap and compositions set to Jhaptal and Teental. Ustad Azizul Islam later performed Raag Hamsadhwani, Raag Jaijaivanti, and several other classical ragas. The evening concluded with enchanting dhuns in Mishra Pilu and Mishra Khamaj. Throughout the performance, the audience remained captivated by the maestro’s exceptional artistry and warmly applauded both the artist and the National Press Club for organizing such a remarkable cultural programme.

At the conclusion of the event, Ustad Azizul Islam was presented with a commemorative crest on behalf of the National Press Club by President Hasan Hafiz, General Secretary Ayub Bhuiyan, and members of the Managing Committee.
