For those evacuating from the Aspen Acres Fire in southern Colorado, getting to a safe space is one thing. Knowing what to do next is something else entirely and can be overwhelming, especially in the middle of an ongoing disaster.
Thankfully, the Red Cross and its partners — including Pueblo County, the county’s Department of Human Services, Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment, United Way of Southern Colorado, behavioral health providers, victim assistance, agriculture support agencies, private insurance representatives and other community partners — have banded together and set up a disaster assistance center.
For many visitors, the center at Pueblo Academy of Arts is an opportunity to speak face-to-face with organizations working together to help them understand their options and prepare for whatever comes next.
One stop, dozens of partners and countless acts of compassion for those most in need.
