Northern Ohio volunteer Cas Robertson is currently stationed in Guam along with six other disaster responders from our region. They are working with dozens of Red Cross volunteers from across the country who are on the ground and ready to help in the wake of Super Typhoon Bavi – the strongest storm ever to hit Rota.
Damaging winds are also impacting Tinian, Saipan and Guam. Communities on the islands are still picking up the pieces from Typhoon Sinlaku (pictured) just three months ago. Some are still living without power in temporary shelters or with makeshift roofs, trying to recover.
Shelters are open, and volunteers like Cas are standing by, ready to provide comfort, meals and recovery supplies as soon as it’s safe. More help is on the way in the coming days as teams assess the impact of the storm and ensure people have the support they need during this difficult time
