বাংলাদেশে হৃদরোগ, ক্যান্সার, ডায়াবেটিস এবং দীর্ঘমেয়াদি শ্বাসতন্ত্রের রোগের মতো অসংক্রামক রোগ (এনসিডি) প্রতিরোধ ও নিয়ন্ত্রণে সরকারি বিভিন্ন সংস্থার যৌথ উদ্যোগ আরও জোরদার করতে ১৫ জুলাই ২০২৬ একটি সমন্বয় সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার কল্যাণ মন্ত্রণালয়ের উদ্যোগে আয়োজিত এ সভায় ৩৫টি মন্ত্রণালয় ও বিভাগের ফোকাল পার্সনরা অংশ নেন। সভাটি বাংলাদেশ সচিবালয়ে জনপ্রশাসন মন্ত্রণালয়ের পুরাতন সম্মেলন কক্ষে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।
বর্তমানে দেশে মোট মৃত্যুর ৭১ শতাংশেরও বেশি অসংক্রামক রোগের কারণে ঘটে। উদ্বেগের বিষয় হলো, এসব মৃত্যুর প্রায় অর্ধেকই অকালমৃত্যু। তাই এই চ্যালেঞ্জ মোকাবিলায় শুধু স্বাস্থ্য খাত নয়, সরকারের সব খাতের সম্মিলিত উদ্যোগ প্রয়োজন।
এই লক্ষ্য সামনে রেখে ২০২৫ সালের আগস্টে বাংলাদেশ সরকার অসংক্রামক রোগ প্রতিরোধ ও নিয়ন্ত্রণে একটি যৌথ ঘোষণায় (Joint Declaration) স্বাক্ষর করে। এর মাধ্যমে ৩৫টি মন্ত্রণালয় ও বিভাগ একসঙ্গে কাজ করার অঙ্গীকার করে।
সেই অঙ্গীকার বাস্তবায়নের অংশ হিসেবে আয়োজিত সভায় প্রতিটি মন্ত্রণালয় ও বিভাগের জন্য নির্দিষ্ট সময়সীমাভিত্তিক কর্মপরিকল্পনা তৈরির বিষয়ে আলোচনা হয়। পাশাপাশি দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত ইউনিট, লক্ষ্য ও অগ্রগতি পরিমাপের সূচক নির্ধারণের উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়, যাতে সমন্বিতভাবে যৌথ ঘোষণার বাস্তবায়ন আরও দ্রুত এগিয়ে নেয়া যায়। সভাটি স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার কল্যাণ মন্ত্রণালয় বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থা (ডব্লিউএইচও) বাংলাদেশ-এর সহযোগিতায় আয়োজন করে।
সভায় সভাপতিত্ব করেন শেখ মোমেনা মনি, অতিরিক্ত সচিব (বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য অনুবিভাগ), স্বাস্থ্য সেবা বিভাগ, স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার কল্যাণ মন্ত্রণালয়। । প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন মো. কামরুজ্জামান চৌধুরী, সচিব, স্বাস্থ্য সেবা বিভাগ, স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার কল্যাণ মন্ত্রণালয়।
Strengthening multisectoral action to prevent and control noncommunicable diseases in Bangladesh 🇧🇩
On 15 July 2026, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) convened a meeting with focal persons from 35 ministries and divisions to initiate the development of ministry-specific, time-bound workplans for the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). The meeting was held at the Ministry of Public Administration, Bangladesh Secretariat, Dhaka.
NCDs, including cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes and chronic respiratory diseases, account for more than 71% of all deaths in Bangladesh, with nearly half of these deaths occurring prematurely. Addressing this growing burden requires action far beyond the health sector. Recognizing this, the Government of Bangladesh signed the Joint Declaration on Prevention and Control of NCDs in August 2025, bringing together 35 ministries and divisions to advance a whole-of-government approach to NCD prevention and control.
Building on this commitment and the decisions of the coordinating committee on prevention and control of NCDs, the meeting focused on translating the Joint Declaration into concrete actions. Participants discussed a standardized workplan template and began developing ministry-specific action plans with measurable indicators, timelines and responsible units to strengthen coordinated implementation across sectors.
The meeting was organized by the MoHFW in collaboration with WHO. It was chaired by Ms Sheikh Momena Moni, Additional Secretary (World Health Wing), Health Services Division, MoHFW. Md Quamruzzaman Chowdhury, Secretary, Health Services Division, MoHFW attended the meeting as the chief guest.
