New York, 5 August 2026: The Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations in New York on Wednesday marked July Mass Uprising Day at a commemorative reception attended by Permanent Representatives, diplomats, senior officials of the United Nations and representatives of other international organizations.
Addressing the reception, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the July Mass Uprising and underscored the people’s enduring aspiration for democracy, justice, accountability and human dignity. He said the movement reflected the collective determination of Bangladeshis to shape a more peaceful, inclusive and prosperous future.
The Ambassador highlighted the Government’s 3R Strategy-Recovery, Restoration and Reconstruction-aimed at restoring economic stability, rebuilding institutions and advancing sustainable development. He also reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to democratic governance, the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and strengthened international cooperation.
A documentary on the July Mass Uprising was screened during the event, providing delegates with an overview of the movement and its significance in Bangladesh’s democratic journey.
