Fareena Samhee’s debut solo exhibition opens at Batighar Art Space, inviting viewers to find emotions in silence

Dhaka : A ten-day solo art exhibition by artist Fareena Samhee Nethee titled ‘Silent Expressions’ was inaugurated today at Asiatic Centre’s Batighar Art Space in Banani. Marking the artist’s debut solo showcase, the exhibition is organized by Mongol Deep Foundation, a platform dedicated to driving social development through art and culture.

Supported by Vertex Chambers and SAJIDA Foundation, the exhibition features a curated selection of Fareena’s original acrylic paintings, offering audiences a profound reflection on communication beyond spoken words. As a hearing-impaired artist, Fareena has built her creative practice through dedicated workshops and previous showcases in both national and international exhibitions.

Rubaba Dowla, Country Managing Director of Oracle Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan, inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest. Speaking at the inauguration, she noted, “The most intricate human emotions cannot often be expressed in words; this exhibition is a great example of how that can be done through art.”

Also present as Special Guests were veteran actor and painter Afzal Hossain and Md. Muniruzzaman, Executive Director of Gallery Chitrak.

Reflecting on the exhibition, Afzal Hossain noted that human expression isn’t just about words, but about feeling, inviting visitors to experience the artwork on that deeper emotional level.

Barrister Junayed Chowdhury and Barrister Sajeda Farisa Kabir graced the occasion on behalf of Vertex Chambers and SAJIDA Foundation, respectively. Representing Mongol Deep Foundation were Chairperson Sara Zaker and Executive Director Sriya Sharbojoya, alongside other members of the organization.

For Fareena, visual art transcends the boundaries of vocal language. The title ‘Silent Expressions’ encapsulates her belief that canvas and colour can voice what spoken language cannot. In her work, vibrant hues, fluid shapes, and expressive forms serve as her primary dialogue, inviting viewers to step into a space of quiet contemplation where emotion is felt rather than heard, and meaning unfolds purely through visual sensation.

The exhibition showcases 61 acrylic paintings, curated by Faridur Rahman Razib, Art Director at Asiatic Marketing and Communications Ltd. ‘Silent Expressions’ will remain open to visitors daily from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM until August 10, 2026.
